Monasterio is a legendary promo group who has been doing real Techno raves in Russia for more than 8 years.
First time I joined Monasterio in December 2019 and from that moment I never skip the events.
Monasterio is about the people and the community is really big and know each other. I took pictures of Monasterians at my home studio. I could focus on their faces and show how different they are.
I talked to one of Monasterio creator.
1. What is Monasterio, and why was it created?
Before
it was a place, a nightclub, but now it’s a unique atmosphere where
someone who is truly passionate about good music can come and get lost
in dancing, dissolving in the rhythm, leaving the real world with its
problems behind.
2. Why is it called like that?
We wanted something individual, something that would be one of its kind in our country.3. Why did you choose techno music?
We chose such kind of techno that wasn’t introduced much in our country before. No one organized raves with the internationally acclaimed musicians and producers who worked in this genre. That’s why the line-ups for our parties often had a note ‘first time in Moscow or in Russia’.4.
Why have Monasterio – starting as the nightclub and keep going as the
party series - been so popular for more than 7 years in your opinion?
That’s pretty long for the event industry. What’s your secret?
It
wasn’t like that all this time. More than 7 years ago, the dancefloor
wasn’t always fully crowded but we never betrayed ourselves. We just
kept improving everything we did. Eventually, such dedication and
commitment paid off, we managed to create a powerful team and a loyal
army of fans.
5. How do you manage to attract an audience that is so diverse and patchy?
We are all different in a way but there’s one thing that brings us together – passion for the music we represent.
6. What does the Monasterio logo mean?
The logo takes its origin from Scandinavian mythology. Vikings used the cross of the Moon as protection at night.
